Frank Omar has a bachelor's in English Literature, enjoys reading at least four books a month, and has worked successfully as an ESL tutor in both Italy and Turkey for years. He also enjoys traveling the world looking for nothing in particular. It focuses specifically on his last two years in high school, a summer holiday in Rome, and the first two years at university and how he tries to balance his relationship with his jealous yet understanding girlfriend, who views him more as a trophy, his turbulent relationship with his mother and sister, and his unusual obsession with the Disney Channel.
The choice I made when I was twenty-three is about a young man's becoming of age story. It's about overcoming battles with identity, sexuality and spirituality. At age twenty-three Mark faces his secrets, pain and anger from the past and announces to his parents that he is gay. After his announcement he begins feeling empty and desperate once again searching for help and answers. One day in his room he receives help in a way he least expected.
